Infiltration in Lombardy

The spin-off center of Transcrime and Università Cattolica, Crime&tech, has developed indicators to assess the risk of organized crime infiltration in companies registered in Lombardy.

The aim of the research project is to support Polis-Lombardia in mapping the risk factors of infiltration by organized crime to which Lombard companies are currently exposed. The study is particularly relevant considering the current economic situation induced by the Covid-19 pandemic, which has undermined the survival of many businesses on the market, providing great opportunities for organized crime to infiltrate legitimate companies.

The project has:

1. Developed Risk indicators for 750,000 companies registered in the region, exploiting information from various sources and adopting an innovative methodology;
2. Proposed the implementation of an analytical tool able to calculate risk indicators in real-time, to strengthen the monitoring of the local economy by regional authorities.
