Thirty years have passed since Professor Ernesto Savona, together with four students, founded the Transcrime research centre at the University of Trento, creating a space for the design and development of innovative solutions to the transnational development of crime.
Since then, Transcrime has grown rapidly, thanks to the multidisciplinary nature of our approach and the variety of skills and backgrounds that come together in our team: criminology, sociology, statistics, law, economics and computer science. Today, more than thirty people work at Transcrime, which has become an inter-university centre of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, the University of Bologna and the University of Perugia.
Discover our evolution over the decades and see the many faces of those who built it in the past and those who continue to make it a centre of international excellence today.
Listen to the message from Director E. Savona to celebrate the anniversary.
During the 30th anniversary celebration, Transcrime’s ‘founding fathers’ and former researchers and PhD students who have passed through our Centre shared their memories of Transcrime’s early days and its journey since then, and Prof. Savona recounted the evolution of the Centre’s mission, between research and innovation, and future visions (find out more on CattolicaNews).
