Estimating illicit waste trafficking in Europe

BlockWaste (Blocking the loopholes for illicit waste trafficking) is a research project co-funded by the European Union’s Internal Security Fund. BlockWaste aimed to provide a strategic analysis of the threats and risks posed by illicit waste trafficking (IWT) across Europe in order to improve the prevention capabilities of EU public authorities and private organisations.

This report analyses the dimensions, patterns and impact of IWT and its main global routes, applying an innovative exploratory methodology.
