PROMENADE

Improved Maritime Awareness by Means of AI and BD Methods

Funded by EU Horizon 2020 programme
Starting date October 2021
End date March 2023

Project Promenade, funded by the European Commission, aims at improving maritime traffic control through the use of innovative AI technologies and Big Data, and at enhancing cooperation and information sharing among maritime surveillance authorities.

Within the project, coordinated by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy (Greece), the consortium has developed service-based tools for the identification, tracking and behavioural analysis of vessels, to facilitate the decision-making process related to maritime trafficking surveillance.

In particular, Transcrime has developed Risk Investigator, an innovative tool to:

  • trace ownership structures and Beneficial Owners of vessels, even when deploying across borders;
  • identify adverse events (sanctions, enforcement, adverse media) linked to vessels, their owners and related entities;
  • detect risk factors and anomalies in vessels’ ownership structure.

PROMENADE will facilitate the identification of vessels involved in criminal activities by EU maritime surveillance Authorities.
