ACOI

Assessing Conflict of Interests

Funded by European Union - Next Generation EU
Starting date December 2023
End date November 2025

The ACOI project aims to support the assessment of conflicts of interest in the fight against administrative corruption. This process is subject to a significant information asymmetry, as the disclosure of conflict situations is usually entrusted to the parties concerned themselves. ACOI will explore methods to fill this information gap and assess how the automated processing of large volumes of personal data can reduce this effort in terms of time and cost.

Our research will focus on:

  • the morphology of the conflict of interest regime;
  • the conditions and limits of personal data processing with respect to the main processing methods, the requirements of the legal basis, the potential dataset;
  • testing the feasibility of solutions based on the processing of large databases of personal data in order to analyse, map and detect the risks of conflicts of interest.

The ACOI project has been funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU, in the framework of the PRIN 2022 PNRR call of the Italian Ministry of University and Research.
