Marina Mancuso is teaching assistant in the course of “Sociology of complex criminal phenomena”, Master Degree in International Cooperation Policies for Development, Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan. She graduated with the International PhD in Criminology at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (February 2014). In December 2009 she received an Honours Master’s degree in Applied Social Science, specializing in Crime and Security, from the Faculty of Sociology of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, with a dissertation on “The Middle-East oil industry: vulnerability and security measures. A survey of Iraq’s pipelines” (L’industria petrolifera in Medio Oriente: vulnerabilità e misure di sicurezza. Un’indagine sulle pipeline in Iraq). In October 2007 she received an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Science of Social Phenomena and Organizational Processes from the Faculty of Sociology of the same University.
Her research topics include primarily: smuggling of migrants, trafficking in human beings and sexual exploitation. She is researcher at Transcrime since June 2010 (Milan office) where she conducts research on the illicit trade in tobacco products and she collaborates in the Project Organized Crime Portfolio funded by the European Commission. She is currently conducting research on the illicit trade in firearms and she is part of the research team involved in the project “FIRE – Fighting illicit firearms trafficking routes and actors at European level” and she is participating at the project DIGIWHIST (The Digital Whistleblower. Fiscal Transparency, Risk Assessment and Impact of Good Governance Policies Assessed) (2015-2018).
