Public procurement has always been an attractive sector for Italian mafia organizations. This book describes the techniques and strategies most commonly used for the infiltration in this field.
The study analyses sixteen cases of mafia infiltration that occurred in the last thirty years and reconstructs, through the reading of judicial files, the territorial and regulatory factors that have facilitated the infiltration of organized criminal groups. The analysis reveals that, while adapting to regulatory changes and stricter controls, the ways in which contracts are polluted have not undergone radical transformations.
If this is true, so is the fact that anticipating the moves of organized crime is possible and that preventing infiltration is an objective within the reach of all public administrations, national and local.
